Studio Ghibli Lets You Bring Its Film’s Food To Life With A Tasty New Cookbook

Last year, author Minh-Tri Vo and translator Lisa Molle-Troyer brought recipes from famed animated films to dining tables across the globe with the release of Studio Ghibli Cookbook: Unofficial Recipes Inspired by Spirited Away, Ponyo, and More!

Now, the iconic studio itself is bringing these dishes to life with its own Ghibli’s Dining Table series. And the third iteration of the collection features yummy delights from Laputa: Castle in the Sky, as a follow-up to the previous launch of My Neighbor Totoro last October.

In the latest offering, fans of the movie will learn to recreate dishes such as the fried egg on toast eaten by Sheeta and Pazu in the cave and the stew that the pirates made while on board the Tiger Moth airship.

Additionally, original recipes are included in the 64-page title, including delectable meals such as the Air Pirates’ Grilled Meat Skewers, Children’s Sangria, and Levitation Stone Amber Sugar. Who knew the film’s levitation stone could be turned into something delicious?

While the books are marked in Japanese bookstores as children’s cooking picture books, these recipes are meant for fans of all ages. Copies are available for 1,760 yen (US$13) on Amazon and Rakuten from August 19, 2023.
