Elon Musk’s X Blocked In Indonesia Due To Domain’s Unsavory History
Days after Elon Musk officially debuted Twitter’s rebrand as ‘X,’ complete with a new minimalistic logo and domain name, it appears not everyone’s on board with the change.
It appears an estimated 24 million users in Indonesia will have a tougher time viewing their timelines, as the x.com domain has been blocked in the country under its strict anti-pornography and anti-gambling laws.

The nation’s Ministry of Communication and Informatics explained that the ban wasn’t against the social media platform but the domain it’s now hosted under.
Before being purchased by Musk from PayPal, the URL had been used to host certain “negative” material, such as adult content.
It’s unclear how long the site will be blocked, though authorities have contacted the company for clarification about the “nature of the site” and are awaiting an official letter that x.com will be used by Twitter.
