Futuristic Induction Cookstove Looks Straight Out Of A Spaceship
Gas cookstoves seem to be on the chopping block in the chase for greener living. Over the years, induction tops have become a preferred choice due to their reduced emittance of greenhouse gases and the fact that they're a little easier and safer to cook with.
‘Chef’ by Newr is a portable and green cooking solution that also kind of looks like a DJ’s turntable, or something you might find in a kitchen from a different galaxy.
The futuristic stove is made up of three different disks that can snap together for a more comprehensive cooking setup, or used individually when you’re camping or out on a picnic. Each disk has an 11-inch top decked out in neon lights and can reach temperatures of up to 665°F.
Chef is battery-operated, and on a single charge, it can cook a day’s worth of meals. It also has an app to control it and voice control support, so you can talk to your stove and have it monitor your food for you if you need to step away from it for a while.
While all this sounds like a welcome addition to a home, the company is gearing Chef for those who live on the road—so any van-lifers or RV enthusiasts out there, this might be the solution to your mobile kitchen if you ever need to stow it away to free up counter space for other activities.
In addition, its lack of flames could also make it a handy companion for cooking in outdoors, where one is open to the elements.
While the Chef is still in development, Newr expects it to be served up before the end of the year. There are currently no pricing details besides a US$500 deposit to preorder the stove.
