Levi’s Rolls Out ‘Stay Dark’ Jeans That Preserve Their Wash For A New Denim Look

Thanks to new technology, Levi’s classics are becoming more timeless—and they look the part too.

While many embrace the aging process of a good well-worn pair, the clothing brand acknowledges that others might appreciate the idea of their favorite jeans appearing like how they looked when they first bought them. As such, it’s introduced a ‘Stay Dark’ technology for its iconic 501 Original silhouette.

The updated version is “made with technology that keeps the original color from fading for up to 20 washes, so your new jeans keep looking like your new jeans,” the brand explains. So they won’t appear minty fresh forever, but they’ll retain their original condition for a little while longer. Though, to be fair, how often do you wash your jeans, anyway?

According to the Levi’s website, the fabric comes in two colors: black and “fade-resistant Future Indigo.” For now, it looks like the option is available for the men’s fit, but it shouldn’t be long before the women’s version adopts the new washes too.

The launch of Stay Dark jeans comes in time for the 150th anniversary of the 501 design, seemingly prolonging its legacy.
