Threads Adds Three More Useful Features In Hopes Of Taking On X (Twitter)
While Threads may have seemed rather barebones when it launched a month ago, it appears Instagram chief Adam Mosseri has kept to his word about updating the platform regularly.
Recently, three new features have come to the site, with Mark Zuckerberg, CEO of parent company Meta, announcing that users will now be able to share posts with others directly through Instagram DMs.
This seems to be a stopgap solution as Threads works on its own iteration of direct messaging native to the service, while keeping users within the company’s ecosystem of applications.

In addition, the firm is rolling out custom alt-text for pictures and videos uploaded onto the site so that users with various accessibility needs can better access the content online.
Last but not least, there’s a new mention button that allows one to tag someone in a post more easily. Smaller updates include the ability to sift through likes under a profile and sort followers in the desired order.
Fingers crossed, users’ requests for direct messaging within the application and a web version for the desktop will be heeded soon enough.
