Bat-Like Shoes Wrap Around Your Feet The Same Way Its Wings Would Cling Onto You

In an imaginative fusion, the creative minds behind Doublet, SUICOKE, and Vibram have united their expertise to introduce an unconventional and literal wild footwear for lovers of bats. By bats, we mean not the sport instrument—but the upside-down-hanging, noctural mammals.

For the uninitiated, Doublet is a contemporary fashion label founded by designer Masayuki Ino. The brand often blends art with fashion, creating pieces that challenge traditional norms and embrace unconventional aesthetics. On the other hand, SUICOKE is a Japanese footwear brand celebrated for its innovative and functional sandals and shoes, and Vibram specializes in manufacturing rubber outsoles. 

The shoe emulates a fuzzy bat enfolding its wings around the wearer’s foot. This distinctive silhouette boasts “wings” composed of two flaps that unfurl to easily slip your feet in and out.

At first glance, the shoes may feel a little uncanny, but once you come around to the idea, they look sort of… cute? That might have to do with the fact that they’re also lined with soft faux fur, and even sport two tiny ears at the toe box.

It’s certainly a departure from the norm regarding footwear, but compared to the brand’s previous shoes, including socks with “toenails”, these are almost normal—as normal as having two winged creatures wrapped around your feet can be.

These eccentric shoes are now available on SUICOKE’s site for US$430 a pair.
