In a bid to enhance customer shopping experiences, Amazon is rolling out an innovative AI tool that employs generative machine-learning to distill customer reviews into concise summaries. The tool filters the most commonly cited product attributes and customer feedback in the assessments.

Collated and summarized appraisals will be presented as a paragraph adjacent to the product’s detailed page. By doing so, Amazon intends to provide shoppers with swift access to the shared sentiments shared by the majority.

The assessments will be categorized into sections such as Ease of Use, Performance, and Stability.

Amazon has also turned to machine-learning models to combat fabricated reviews. These models will sift through extensive data points to flag potential assessment manipulation risks.

With the rise of AI-generated evaluations, platforms like ChatGPT have cast shadows over Amazon’s review sections. According to The Guardian, Amazon has not shied away from legal action to counter the surge in counterfeit assessment propagation. In 2022, the company took on a significant legal battle, suing over 10,000 administrators of Facebook groups involved in deceitful appraisal exchanges.

The reduction of counterfeit reviews might be welcomed, but how helpful this will all be is yet to be seen. Grouping similar comments into a paragraph might save you time when shopping. Still, often the outlier or negative comments can be just as important as it shows you different issues you might run into.
