“Tension is a material property that creates both music and architecture. Inspired by Dvorak’s New World Symphony, the prototype originates from a piece of wood bent by a string in tension,” noted Jin. “The concert hall is an orchestration of walls, balconies, and acoustic panels, which are developed from the prototype by different scales and tectonics.”
Situated in Prague, the site gracefully intersects historical and contemporary districts. Its sweeping façade evokes symphonic melodies, while interiors adorned with acoustic panels and fluid balconies juxtapose the old-world charm of Prague with its burgeoning art scene.

According to Nishi, “The phenomenal part of this work focuses on the optical phenomenon of light passing through a pipe, generating ripples of light. The architecture was heavily influenced by the architecture of Swiss architect Peter Zumthor, in particular the atmosphere of the Bruder-Klaus-Kapelle.”
“On sunny days, when the sun shines and a certain amount of wind blows, light is guided into the space from the pipes in the ceiling, creating a phenomenon of light that resembles drops falling onto the surface of water.”

“This project is located in Luodian County, Guizhou Province, known as the “natural greenhouse” endowed with privileged natural conditions: annual sunshine duration of 1350-152 hours, average annual temperature of 20℃, and annual rainfall of 1,335 mm.” Commented Liao. “We expect to create a sort of building that is not only a living space but also a mechanism balanced with the ecological environment.”
The cabin’s curved roof is embellished with flexible solar panels from Switzerland, enabling it to operate on “zero” energy and blend into its natural surroundings.

“The design inspiration comes from the most classic arcade game Pac-Man in the history of video games, extracting the image of the protagonist of the game, the elf, and the lower shelf space is like the action of opening the mouth, and the image depicts the optimism of “I eat, so I am” manner,” noted Ren.

“The primary concern of our design is to conceptualize the sensory experience the users have while burning the incense,” explained the designers. “We started the research by conducting data collection and general analysis and went through the process of discussion and irritative revisions in the studio. At last, we’re able to imagine the situational atmosphere that we want users to immerse in and connect users to this abstract feeling through a combination of the presence of outer packaging and the taste of the smell.”
The translucent boxes mimic the dance of smoke, while distinct hues correspond to the diverse varieties of incense sticks enclosed within.

Given Japan’s vulnerability to natural disasters, versatile items such as honey offers sustenance and sterilization properties for wounds during emergencies. Inspired by its multifaceted virtues, Nakagomi devised an LED light unit that doubles as a disaster preparedness tool.
The fixture’s main portion is filled with honey and sits atop a wooden pedestal. During everyday life, the lighting presents an interesting centerpiece with what looks like a glass container dripping over the side. In the unfortunate case of an emergency, the two can be taken apart, and the wooden panel can be used as a torchlight while the honey can be eaten or used to cure.

“The luminaire consists of a cylindrical metal base, hosting the LED light source. It features semi-circular elements. At the top there is a unique adjustment system, using which the orientation of the light beam can be changed in the vertical direction. And using a cable and wire, the direction of light can be adjusted horizontally when installing the luminaire,” Danilin elaborated.
“It is this suspension system that allows the luminaire to be installed static, which would not be possible if it were hanging from a single wire. They can be easily adjusted in height, depending on the ceiling and the task of the luminaire. To make the wire hang elegantly, it is connected to the cable with a special decorative element.”

Emerald green lighting suffuses the space, resuscitating the structure while evoking the enchantment of nature’s beauty, spanning three floors and a rooftop terrace.

“Our birthday time corresponds to a mysterious constellation. This interstellar secret determines our character and destiny. We hope that the birthday day will be full of ceremonies, and the most important part of this ceremony is the birthday cake. The cross-section of the cake is similar to the surface of the planet. We integrate the sweetness of the cake and the mystery of the constellation in this illusory cake star space,” shared Peng.
The pink-hued sweet shop has a star-shaped cake display in its center and a frosted mirror on its ceiling. Ultimately, the space is meant to recreate a sweet interstellar bakery that celebrates the stars that shine down on each of us on our birthdays.
