In a bid to tap into the ever-evolving landscape of music consumption, YouTube Music is launching a new feature known as ‘Samples’. Drawing inspiration from the success of platforms like TikTok, Samples introduces a personalized short-form video feed that will help you discover new music.
Each snippet in the Samples feed (which appears as a new icon at the bottom) is a preview into different artists, offering viewers a sneak peek into new undiscovered talent and songs.
In addition to its vast collection of official music videos and live performances, YouTube employs doom-scrolling short-form content to steer viewers towards longer media formats. By enticing users to interact and click on links, the platform effectively guides them toward the actual performances they seek.
The functionality of Samples extends beyond mere observation. Users can curate their music journey by adding songs to their collection, sharing their findings with friends, crafting personalized playlists, visiting album pages for deeper dives, initiating radio stations, and even using songs to create Shorts.
Samples rolls out today to Android and iOS YouTube Music users.
