As younger generations step into adulthood, a surprising trend is emerging from the past: the Y2K era is making a comeback. Nostalgia for the turn of the millennium is captivating today’s youth, as they embrace the fashion, music, and pop culture that defined the late 90s and early 2000s. Y2K-inspired trends are finding their way into just about every corner of the internet… and even your local Walmart.
Get ready for a journey down memory lane as Walmart introduces its Summer Rewind event, spanning 33 cities nationwide. The cross-country event captures the essence of childhood and allows attendees to experience Walmart stores while reliving their younger years.
You might be a little too old to jump into ball pits, or maybe you’ve wanted to know what it would have felt like to walk into those large freezers in the grocery store; Walmart is now giving you the chance.
And, spurred on by the mega-hit Barbie movie, you can also pretend to be her for a day and take pictures in You-Sized Toy Boxes, or even join in on a communal giant paint project made out of Lite Brites.
The event kicks off in Austin, Texas, on August 18 before heading to 33 other cities. And it’s free to attend; all you need to do is RSVP on Walmart’s website.
