American company Rover is an online marketplace where pet parents can converge to buy and sell care services like boarding, walking, and sitting. A new campaign from the company highlights how taking part in such services can sometimes be anxiety-inducing for protective parents.
To My Hooman is told from the perspective of pets; the dozen hand-drawn advertisements depict different scenarios, such as the anxiety an owner feels when leaving their furry friends to go to work or on a trip.
In the central spot, a dog called Rooster is seen having a grand old time on its own with its sitter and the people it is boarding with and even try to send “signs” like a wet ball landing on its hooman’s table while she dines in France, or some fur in her cocktail.
By utilizing storybook-esque visualization and tales sung over the drawings’, Rover is trying to calm the owners’ nerves by showing that their loved ones will be cared for well. The campaign also highlights different services that caretakers will provide, such as photo updates, following along a specific routine, and even listening to requests that are unique to each animal.
According to Marketing Dive, Rover has been under the spotlight before for pets going missing or having died under sitters’ care. The videos might be a way to try and regain the trust of its users by showing different ways their four-legged friends can be cared for and safely looked after.
