Conversational AI tech firm Hi Auto, in collaboration with Checkers and Rally’s Drive-in Restaurants, recently announced a major change in drive-thru orders with the integration of artificial intelligence (AI).
Now, thanks to the introduction of a bilingual chatbot, customers can use their voices to place orders in Spanish, with the tool on hand to seamlessly detect and reply in the language spoken.
This marks a pivotal moment for the more than 50 million Spanish and bilingual speakers in North America.
“Seventy percent of Miami Dade’s population are of Hispanic descent, so I congratulate the leadership of Checkers, Rally’s and Hi Auto on being pioneers and leading the way for other companies to follow,” said Liliam M Lopez, President and CEO of the non-profit South Florida Hispanic Chamber of Commerce.
“It gives me such satisfaction to see that Checkers, Rally’s and Hi Auto are implementing a policy that their drive-thru employees speak Spanish.”
The innovative drive-thru voice AI ordering technology developed by Hi Auto has already been implemented in over 350 locations of Checkers and Rally’s.
After successful beta testing across five of their drive-thru locations, the chain is ready to expand the rollout of the Spanish drive-thru voice AI feature to additional franchises and stores.
The advanced AI model will be accompanied by real-time human supervision capabilities to ensure that the bilingual feature facilitates accurate order-taking and inquiries from customers.
Interestingly, this high-tech solution—which has been the only system to have successfully scaled to hundreds of stores—further enhances the order-taking process by accurately recognizing items, suggesting upsells, and transmitting the order to the restaurant.
It’s said to be capable of comprehending complex menus, diverse accents, detailed requests, and even changes made by customers mid-order while boasting a 95% accuracy rate.
“To best serve our communities, restaurants need solutions that speak to all customers, and the United States is the world’s second-largest Spanish-speaking country,” said Hi Auto’s CEO and Co-Founder Roy Baharav.
“Our expanded partnership with Checkers and Rally’s represents a huge breakthrough for the country’s Spanish-speaking and bilingual communities, and allows every restaurant to cater to the Spanish speaking population at any time.”
