‘BeFake’ Is A New AI Social Media App That Doesn’t Want To BeReal

By now, you’ve probably heard of BeReal. The app gained popularity with Gen Z as it took an unorthodox route to social media’s picture-perfect highlight reel world. Instead, it gave people a platform to be themselves, not allowing them to stage or edit photos. They were only given a two-minute window to post their picture for the day.
 
As an answer to the site, a new app is about to take off, and it’s pretty much the antithesis to the antithesis.
 
BeFake AI, by Alias Technologies, is a new artificial intelligence-based platform that might look like BeReal on the surface. Still, instead of having to post yourself sitting at your desk or watching Netflix within the set time limit, warts and all, you’ll now be given a chance to turn your image into an AI rendering.
 
The app works pretty similar to BeReal; users will have a short window (this time, it will be 20 minutes, presumably to edit their work) to post at certain times during the day. After snapping their picture, they can add fantastical backgrounds or even use AI to make themselves appear like a mermaid under the sea or a ruler sitting on their throne.

Users can type their text prompts into the generator, and it will start producing whatever they desire. Photos made on the app can also be saved and posted to other social media sites.
 
According to PetaPixel, CEO Kristen Garcia Dumont states that BeFake aims to democratize social media and make it a less stressful place to be on. One guesses that by outwardly putting fantasy and surreality at the forefront, it banishes any qualms of having to hide the fact that people’s lives are not as perfect as they might seem on social media.
 
The app is now available for download on iOS and Android.
