Mercedes-Benz Debuts SL63 Convertible Inspired By California Coast Sunsets

As the sun dips below the horizon along California’s iconic Pacific Coast Highway, it paints the sky with hues of orange and red, casting a mesmerizing glow over the serene waters. It’s a sight that has left countless travelers breathless and inspired, and it’s precisely this awe-inspiring spectacle that has served as the muse for Mercedes-AMG’s latest creation, the ‘SL63 Manukatur Big Sur’.

The convertible first debuted at this year’s Monterey Car Week. It sports an Orange Flame Metallic hue that will ride you in style into the sunset. It’s topped off with chrome trimming and a black soft top. The vehicle also comes with gloss-black 21-inch wheels with matching calipers.

Upon entering, the interior is opulent with black and red Nappa leather and a unique diamond pattern, accented by vibrant orange stitching. The dash and door cards have tasteful splashes of Orange Flame Metallic.

For audiophiles, the SL63 Manukatur Big Sur boasts Burmeister’s high-end 3D Surround Sound audio system.

Under the hood, there are no mechanical upgrades, but why fix something that isn’t broken? It’s based on the fully loaded standard version, powered by a four-liter twin-turbo V-8 engine, churning out 577 horsepower and 590 ft lbs of torque. It rockets from zero to 60 mph in a swift 3.5 seconds.

The convertible is equipped with AMG’s 4Matic+ all-wheel-drive setup, a front-axle lift system, Active Ride Control suspension, and a Dynamic Plus package for those who appreciate a bit of exhilaration.

Here’s the catch: the SL63 Manukatur Big Sur will be a rare sighting, exclusively available in the US and in limited quantities. As for the price, that’s still under wraps, but expect it to exceed the standard version’s starting tag of US$183,000.
