Largest-Ever KAWS Sculpture Lands In Indonesia’s Ancient Prambanan Temples

Following its short stint in Singapore two years ago, KAWS:HOLIDAY has recently landed in Indonesia, the 10th stop of its world tour. This time, the largest-ever sculpture in the exhibition’s history has set up home right next to the country’s ancient Prambanan temple compound. 

The ninth-century landmark—the country’s largest Hindu temple complex and a UNESCO World Heritage Site—is situated in Yogyakarta, southern Java. Naturally, the contemporary artwork poses an unexpected contrast to the historical background it lies before.

According to Hypebeast, this is the first time in six years that the tour has featured the Accomplice, a figure initially released back in 2002 as a vinyl piece. The sculpture, reminiscent of a bunny, spans over 45 meters (148 feet) long.

Dubbing the giant figure’s appearance at the Prambanan Temples “a journey to serenity,” organizer AllRightsReserved has announced that the display will be open for viewing from August 19 to August 31, 2023. An admission fee is required for entering the complex.
