Oat milk, hemp milk, almond milk, soy milk—all these ingredients do not contain dairy but still take on the moniker of “milk.” Why? That’s the question being asked in the newest series of spots from the California Milk Processor Board (CMPB), the creators of the famed Got Milk? campaign.
The commercials, which were created in partnership with advertising agency GALLEGOS United, use the tune of a classic nursery rhyme to poke fun at the trend of myriad “milks” filling up shelves in grocery stores countrywide.
Titled EveryoneWants To Be Milk, the series of animated spots showcase wacky iterations of the beverage—from “ghost milk” to “hot dog milk”—ultimately aiming to make the point that in the end, there’s only one “true milk”—dairy milk.
These videos, available in English, Spanish, and multi-language (English, Spanish, and Korean) will be broadcast on television, digital media platforms, and social media sites throughout the state. An eight-bit digital game for the campaign is expected to be launched later in the fall.
James Kulp, executive director, head of account management at GALLEGOS United, told LBB Online the advertisements are focused on “transforming attitudes and driving consumption of real milk,” with recent statistics showing the pendulum has begun “to swing back into dairy’s favor.”
