Microsoft Gives Paint A Dark Mode, Splashed Across All Windows 11 Devices

Paint, with all its vibrant hues, has now entered the dark side. Microsoft has rolled out dark theme support for the nostalgic stock app for all Windows 11 users.

Dark mode for Paint had been in testing among Windows Insiders for months, and now that Microsoft is satisfied with the iteration, it’s brought this alternative view to the masses. By default, the interface will adapt to your system’s theme settings, so it might be bright by day and go dark by night. Users can, however, update their settings to stick to their preferred mode.

Another thing to note is that, even with the UI dimmed down, your canvas won’t start with a dark background, as XDA Developers points out.

Besides a dark theme, the updated Paint app now sports enhanced zoom controls, allowing users to add decimal points to zoom percentages instead of keeping them as whole numbers.

While the new version is being made available to all Windows 11 users, the rollout will be gradual. If you don’t see the dark theme now, give it a few days and it should appear.
