Apple Reveals How iPhone 14 Pro Is Used To Design Dog Prosthetics

A small business aspiring to give disabled furry friends the ability to run free again is making the most out of the iPhone 14 Pro in the most paw-sitive way.

In a new video shot on the iPhone, Apple demonstrates how 3DPets, which is focused on crafting custom pet prosthetics, utilizes the flagship model’s LiDAR capabilities to make the most perfect artificial limbs for every animal. The spot centers around Trip, who was almost put down as a puppy due to a deformed leg. However, his new owner made the difficult decision to have the leg amputated instead so Trip could continue living a happy life.

Using the iPhone 14 Pro’s LiDAR Scanner and TrueDepth camera, 3DPets is able to generate accurate 3D scans of each pupper’s unique condition.

Then, the team uses specialized software on their computer to ideate a mold tailored to its wearer’s needs, before 3d-printing it in a flexible Thermoplastic Poly-Urethane (TPU) material. 

The end of the video captures the three-legged star and other dogs speeding around with their new mobility equipment.
