Walmart To Drop Parcels Onto Doorsteps Via Alphabet’s Wing Drones
In an era where convenience meets the skies, Alphabet’s aviation subsidiary, Wing, is teaming up with Walmart to bring drone deliveries to the Dallas-Fort Worth.
This partnership takes flight from a Walmart Supercenter in Frisco, Texas, with further plans to expand to another DFW location later this year. It will encompass around 60,000 homes within the six-mile coverage zone of both stores.
Offerings will be diverse, catering everything from quick meals to groceries, essentials, and over-the-counter medicines. Even what the companies deem “delicate items” will be safely brought to you.
Regarding delivery times, Wing’s unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) are swift travelers, boasting speeds of up to 65 mph, guaranteeing that your orders arrive at your door in less than 30 minutes. On top of that, all purchases should arrive between 10a.m. and 6.30p.m. each day except on Wednesdays when the service is not in operation.
The UAVs are manned via remote monitoring and operation to eliminate the need for on-site pilots.
This isn’t Wing’s first foray into the DFW region; it has previously partnered with Walgreens for drone deliveries. Walmart, too, has previously partnered with DroneUp service, catering to millions of households across several states.
