Tony the Tiger has been making “grrreat!” happen for 70 years with Frosted Flakes. However, with “great” being one of the most common words in the English language, it’s lost some of its glimmer over time. To help young eaters resonate with the adjective again, Kellogg’s is introducing elements of the modern era into the cereal world.

As it turns out, Frosted Flakes and memes go together like milk and cereal. In a delightful brand campaign established by advertising agency Leo Burnett, the beloved tiger mascot befriends famous internet icons and concepts, and ultimately makes their lives better—or grrreater—by handing them a bowl of cereal. “They’re That Gr-r-reat!” Kellogg’s emphasizes, adding a new spin to its unforgettable slogan.

In one scenario, Tony feeds a “confused math person,” who finally gets her eureka moment after a yummy taste of enlightenment.

Another moment sees the tiger walk up to the dog in the notorious ‘This is Fine’ meme with a bowl of Frosted Flakes. After taking a bite of his breakfast and having his sweat droplets lovingly wiped off, the dog realizes that everything will, indeed, be fine, and changes his tagline to, “This is great.”

Tony the Tiger is bringing more grrreatness by appearing in all kinds of formats, including GIFs, videos, and stills on social media and television. On YouTube, he intercepts unboxing and how-to videos gone wrong by comforting fictional vloggers the best way he knows how.

In another instance, Tony takes on a puppet form to provide cereal therapy to a stressed character.

He also eases the nerves of a star in a Spanish soap opera and a video game character.

Through the “language of the internet,” Kellogg’s hopes to propel the reach of the timeless Frosted Flakes for the ages.
