MINI recently unveiled the latest iteration of the MINI Cooper Electric, a new generation model with a revamped aesthetic for the modern age.

The new vehicle stays true to its core identity by retaining its agile and compact silhouette—in particular, keeping its iconic circular headlights and distinctive grille.

The design of the car has been refreshed, however, in the form of a new octagonal front grille with its filigree contour. Instead of chrome, the updated accent color adds a sheen of highlights to the exterior.

Additionally, the EV’s front headlights are no longer framed in chrome for a “focused expression,” while the updated curves of the bonnet and “clear-cut” front apron give it a sportier look.

Drivers can choose from four different trims to adorn the car. First, the Essential Trim shines the spotlight on the functional components of the vehicle in a Vibrant Silver hue.

The Classic Trim focuses on the interior of the car, while the Favored Trim offers expressive details on its façade with a Multitone Roof combining the allure of three different shades.

Within the revamped interior, the MINI Cooper Electric boasts a minimalist and functional design that harks back to the automaker’s classic heritage.

It features a central OLED display that offers an intuitive interface, reminiscent of smartphone screens, that will place relevant information at the forefront to be easily accessed by the driver.

There are two options under the hood: the Cooper E and the Cooper SE. The Cooper E is powered by a 135 kW electric motor that delivers a torque of 290 Nm, accelerating the vehicle from 0 to 100 kmh (62.3 mph) in 7.3 seconds.

On the other hand, the Cooper SE features a more potent 160 kW motor capable of accelerating the car from 0 to 100 kmh in just 6.7 seconds, offering a range of up to 402 km (250 miles).

Both models offer fast-charging capabilities, with the vehicle being able to be juiced up from 10% to 80% in under 30 minutes, thanks to fast-charging stations.

“Inspired by our history, we have developed our own new design language, defining our DNA. We call it ‘Charismatic Simplicity,’” said Oliver Heilmer, head of MINI Design.

“The idea behind it is a design that gives each new MINI model a strong, individual character and is characterized by a clear, reduced design language intuitively focused on the essentials of the brand.”
