This Robotic Toothbrush Aids People With Disabilities Without Need To Move Hands
In a significant stride towards inclusivity, Swiss oral care brand CURAPROX introduces ‘Samba’, a novel dental innovation designed to empower individuals with disabilities.
According to CURAPROX, those with physical and mental disabilities often have to rely on a family member or caregiver for help, or they will have to settle for subpar cleaning.
After eight years of engineering, the Samba is now here to lend a helping hand to those most in need.
The toothbrush has 12,900 soft bristles that can oscillate at a low frequency along the teeth and mimic a dynamic brushing motion to remove plaque and debris.
As it is a robot, it does all the heavy lifting for the individual, removing the need for them to move their hands manually.
This innovation serves a crucial purpose: granting independence in oral care. Samba addresses a pressing issue, as studies estimate that 88% of individuals with disabilities encounter dental problems.
“Samba was developed with the belief that everyone, regardless of their abilities, deserves a healthy mouth; having a disability should not stand in the way of good oral hygiene,” said Eran Eyal, one of the inventors of Samba.
