Volkswagen Previews All-Electric Sports Limousine Concept

Volkswagen has recently taken the wraps off its latest creation, the ID.X Performance concept car, imagined as part of its electric vehicle lineup. This vehicle is designed to showcase the capabilities of Volkswagen’s Modular Electric Drive Platform (MEB) using the new ID.7 framework.

The ID.X Performance concept aims to deliver an engaging driving experience as it is described as a “sports limousine.” It boasts a robust all-wheel drive system, a performance-tuned suspension, and an exterior design with dynamic prowess.

Under the hood, a dual-motor drive system provides a substantial 411 kW (558 PS) of power, with an additional boost function for added performance. 

The vehicle’s drive battery offers both sustained high-power output and fast charging capabilities, with a capacity of up to 200 kW. This ensures minimal downtime between drives, enhancing practicality for daily use.

The exterior of the ID.X Performance concept features sporty elements, including a carbon front splitter, rear diffuser, 20-inch sports alloy wheels, and a carbon wing to improve downforce and aerodynamics.

Inside the car, carbon bucket seats and red accents highlight its sporty character.

“The MEB offers many fantastic possibilities for approaching vehicle development with a great deal of creativity. It was clear to us that we wanted to base our new show car on the ID.7 and that we would focus on enhancing the performance. In this way we can show what is possible,” said Andreas Reckewerth, Head of Technology Office MEB.

While an official release date has not been disclosed, it is evident that Volkswagen is poised to introduce a new generation of performance-oriented electric vehicles in the near future, and this gives a peek into what lies ahead.
