Google has rolled out a noteworthy update for its Bard AI chatbot, known as ‘Bard Extensions’. This latest addition empowers the chatbot with real-time access to a range of Google apps and services, including Gmail, Maps, YouTube, Drive, and Flights.

With Bard Extensions in tow, Bard steps up its game, delivering personalized responses and handling more intricate queries. Users can now call upon Bard to craft personalized travel itineraries, drawing data from their Gmail accounts, Flights, and other Google services.

Privacy-conscious customers need not fret, as Google has assured users that Bard doesn’t wield personal information for advertising purposes or model training.

The latest update from Bard includes a new and valuable feature called the ‘double-check’ button, which enables users to assess the accuracy of Bard’s responses. When clicked on, it illuminates segments of Bard’s reply, pinpointing where Google Search results either support or deviate from the chatbot’s statements. This feature directly targets the issue of “hallucinations,” where AI tools confidently present information without a factual basis.

Furthermore, Bard is broadening its horizons by enabling users to share their conversations with others, allowing a seamless continuation of the chat. It’s worth noting that Bard, launched in March as an experiment, may still occasionally display inaccurate or offensive content.

The features are now being rolled out to English-speaking users, and Google plans on expanding Bard’s reach to 40 other languages.
