MINI Wheels In Its First-Ever Electric Bicycle
MINI has seized the moment of electric bicycles to collaborate with Angell Mobility and venture into the industry. Together, they have unveiled the MINI E-Bike 1.
This e-bike is available in two distinct configurations. The ‘M’ version boasts an angled top tube, catering to taller riders, while the ‘S’ model features a step-through frame designed for smaller riders. The available color options, Ocean Wave Green and Vibrant Silver, harmonize with MINI’s 2024 color schemes.
Its construction relies on lightweight, aero-grade aluminum, ensuring a robust yet lightweight frame, with the entire package weighing under 38 pounds, including its removable battery.
Despite its featherlight weight, this e-bike boasts a range of up to 40 miles. A fast mode option is available, reducing that slightly to 21 miles. Beyond its aesthetics and performance, the MINI E-Bike 1 incorporates practical features, including an integrated mud and chain guard and a Brooks England saddle crafted without leather.
On its handlebars sits an integrated digital cockpit that provides riders with essential information, including speed and distance. Moreover, a proprietary navigation system is seamlessly controlled via a mobile app, allowing riders to log their journeys, tailor riding preferences, select destinations, and more. It also utilizes the same GPS provider as BMW’s cars, enabling users to locate their bike if it falls into the wrong hands.
The launch of the MINI E-Bike 1 took place in Paris, where Angell Mobility’s CEO, John Mollanger, shared details of this partnership. Paying homage to its heritage, MINI plans to produce only 1959 units of each specification, referencing the birth year of the original BMC MINI.
The MINI E-Bike 1 can be found at select locations like Le Printemps in Paris and KaDeWe in Berlin for €3,490 (US$3,712.26), and online preorders have begun. However, there is no word if it will be coming to the US.
