MSCHF & Reebok Step Out On Court With Revived Pump Technology Sneakers
MSCHF and Reebok have stepped onto the court together to resurrect the iconic Pump technology with the Pump Omni Zone IX sneaker. This creative partnership pays homage to Dee Brown’s legendary 1991 NBA Slam Dunk Contest, where he first wowed the world with the Pump.
For those unfamiliar, the Pump technology, born in the late 80s thanks to Reebok engineer Paul Litchfield, was a game-changer in the sneaker world. It allowed wearers to customize the fit of their shoes with a few squeezes of an inflation button, promising a snug and tailored feel.
Fast forward to today, and this legendary tech gets a fresh twist in the form of the Pump Omni Zone IX. Now, let’s dive into the fascinating world of these kicks, where classic inspiration meets modern design.
The Pump Omni Zone IX sneaker stands out with a unique design featuring multiple tongue embellishments adorning the entire upper. It is offered in two distinct styles: the Sunbleached, which sports a faux-aged appearance, and the classic White/Blue/Orange makeup.
The Pump units on these sneakers showcase alternating branding, with some proudly displaying ‘The Pump’ while others bear the distinctive ‘The MSCHF’ label. Further accentuating MSCHF’s fascination, the shoes incorporate ‘Boing Boing’ on the heel and ‘Boing Boing Technology’ on the midsole.
The intricate details extend to a basketball lace deubre and an oversized MSCHF outsole.
The MSCHF x Reebok Pump Omni Zone IX is set to launch on September 27 on the MSCHF website and the MSCHF Sneakers app through a 24-hour draw. Each pair is priced at US$250.
