This Stretchy Denim Is Fully Natural—And Also Completely Biodegradable
Denim, a beloved staple in our wardrobes, is undergoing a transformation. Enter biodegradable stretch jeans, a new innovation that promises to redefine our relationship with this timeless fabric. In collaboration with Coreva Design, Italian jeans manufacturing brand Candiani Denim has introduced a pioneering concept that combines comfort, style, and sustainability.
Coreva Design’s unique fabric technology uses natural rubber-derived plant materials for elasticity. This contrasts conventional stretch denim, which commonly relies on synthetic fibers, often derived from petroleum-based sources, and presents several sustainability challenges.

Additionally, shedding minuscule plastic microfibers during use and washing, known as microplastic pollution, poses threats to aquatic ecosystems and potential implications for the food chain.
When it reaches the end of its useful life, this denim undergoes complete biodegradation in less than four months. This swift decomposition not only minimizes its environmental impact but also underscores the importance of sustainable alternatives in the fashion realm.

The debut capsule collection, currently available at Banner, a luxury fashion retailer in Milan, offers a diverse range of products. From leisurewear to premium denim and ready-to-wear pieces, the collection showcases a palette featuring ecru, indigo, gray, and terracotta.
