Daniel Arsham Crafts ‘Deconstructed’ Soccer Balls As Gifts To Inter Milan FC
Famed artist Daniel Arsham, whose previous works include a 65-foot sundial crafted out of snow and an eroded 911 Porsche, recently gifted two custom sculptures to Inter Milan.
As a show of his support for the club, the artworks take on the form of a “deconstructed” soccer ball—one in royal blue and the other in black as a nod to the Nerazzurri colors.
Each piece is made from crystal and volcanic ash, with the portion of the ball “torn” to reveal larger crystals within. Though they look as if they’re falling apart, Arsham said the designs were actually “growing to completion.”
“I have been going to Milano for over 15 years to work with friends in design, architecture, art, and fashion. Many of them are Inter fans and were my introduction to the club, which I have been a fan of for years,” Arsham wrote on Instagram.
“We had an incredible last season and are starting this season in a very special way. As a gift to the club, I have created a sculpture representing the team colors made in crystal and volcanic ash,” he continued.
“Evolving, adapting, and growing in unison, much like the spirit of Inter. Facing challenges and overcoming them. Growing together. Forza Inter!”
