Meta Unleashes AI Assistant, Image Editing Tools, Celebrity Chatbots, And More

Meta, the parent company of Facebook and Instagram, has unveiled a slew of new experiences powered by artificial intelligence. 

These tools, introduced at the recent Connect event, are designed to enhance user connections and unleash creativity, promising to transform the way users engage with technology and each other.

AI Assistant

First and foremost, Meta AI comes into the frame. As one of the highlights, the conversational assistant will be made available on messaging platforms like WhatsApp, Messenger, and Instagram.

In the coming months, it will be expanded to the Ray-Ban Meta Smart Glasses and Quest 3. Leveraging a custom model based on Llama 2, this program provides real-time information through text or image prompts. 

For example, when discussing which trailhead to explore in Santa Cruz, the tool can suggest options right in the text chat, streamlining the decision-making process.

Additionally, it can assist with creative endeavors; a simple command like “@MetaAI /imagine” followed by a descriptive prompt can generate digital pictures on the fly.

AI Image Editor

Those looking for generative ways to enhance pictures on Instagram won’t be disappointed either. A pair of new features has just appeared.

Both powered by Emu technology, ‘Restyle’ allows users to reimagine their images by applying visual styles described in text prompts. 

‘Backdrop’ changes the picture’s background based on descriptive prompts, like “surrounded by puppies.”

Importantly, to maintain transparency, images altered using these features will indicate that AI was involved in their creation.

AI Personality Chatbots

In addition, the company is exploring more engaging and personality-rich AI interactions. In addition to Meta AI, users can interact with 28 other AI personalities on WhatsApp, Messenger, and Instagram.

These AIs, designed to feel like characters, are brought to life with the help of cultural icons and influencers. Charli D’Amelio turns into Coco, a dance enthusiast, while Chris Paul takes on the role of Perry, a pro golfer.

Overall, the diverse cast of AI characters aims to provide unique and fun interactions for users on in the metaverse.

AI-Generated Stickers

Last but not least, Meta has thought of how to make its messengers more engaging through stickers.

These stickers are generated effortlessly from text prompts, allowing users to convey their feelings better using an array of unique and high-quality symbols in seconds.

As Meta continues to explore and expand its AI offerings, there’s more to come. In the near future, the company plans to create a sandbox that will allow users to experiment and create AI.
