Yamaha Rolls Out Topsy-Turvy Motorcycle That Resembles ‘A Living Creature’

Japanese motorcycle manufacturer Yamaha recently unveiled its latest innovation in the world of two-wheelers.

The futuristic bike, which remains a concept at this point, takes a unique approach to the roads, exploring the future of human-machine interfaces.

Dubbed the Motoroid 2, the vehicle continues the brand’s initial concept launched in 2017, aiming to create “a machine that looks and acts like a living creature.”

This experimental model combines mobility with intelligent artificial intelligence (AI) technologies, posied to redefine the way riders interact with their bikes.

One of the highlights of the Motoroid 2 is its ability to recognize its owner and move alongside them. The machine can gracefully get up from its kickstand and accompany its rider, giving it a lifelike and almost companion-like feel.

To achieve this, Yamaha worked on improving the Active Mass Center Control System (AMCES)—a feature that ensures the motorcycle maintains balance, even when the rider is not on it.

Moreover, the bike boasts advanced image recognition AI. It can recognize an individual’s face and respond to their gestures, further enhancing the interactive experience.

This AI-driven system is designed to make the motorcycle not just a mode of transportation but a responsive and intuitive companion while out and about.

In terms of design, the two-wheeler features a groundbreaking Leaf structure in its chassis. This innovation, which isn’t found in traditional vehicles, offers more lifelike and responsive interactions.

Attendees of the forthcoming Events Japan Mobility Show 2023 will get the first peek at the Motoroid 2.

As the company put it, the ultimate goal is “to deliver users the seductive exhilaration felt when they truly become one with their machine.”
