Rolls-Royce Unveils Ghost ‘Ékleipsis’ Filled With Solar Eclipse Motifs

Rolls-Royce has introduced a distinctive edition of its Ghost sedan, named the Ékleipsis Private Collection. This unique variant was conceived to mark the Western Hemisphere’s annual solar eclipse on October 14.

The Ékleipsis, a model under the Black Badge series, presents a remarkable visual character. Its exterior boasts a Lyrical Copper paint finish, accentuated by Mandarin detailing. These Mandarin accents are placed on the front bumper, brake calipers, and coachline. According to Rolls-Royce, the detailing “recalls the intense pulses of sunlight witnessed as the eclipse progresses.” 

One of the standout features of this limited-edition Ghost is the Starlight headliner animation, set in motion when the car doors are closed and the engine springs to life. It comprises a dazzling arrangement of 940 individual “stars,” meticulously configured to replicate the corona of light encircling the Sun during a solar eclipse.

Inside, the dashboard features an intricate artwork adorned with 1,846 laser-etched “stars.” An exclusive timepiece, complete with a diamond bezel, also graces the interior. This timepiece draws inspiration from the iconic “diamond ring” effect, which is a single point of light that becomes visible before and after the Moon moves in front of the Sun.

The seats are adorned with over 200,000 precisely crafted perforations. They showcase a unique pattern that tastefully reveals Mandarin accents, infusing a touch of vibrancy into the interior.

Beyond these visually striking elements, the Ékleipsis offers a range of exclusive amenities. These include illuminated door sill plates, a discreetly integrated Mandarin-piped umbrella stored within the car doors, and a bespoke indoor car cover, all contributing to the vehicle’s appeal.

Rolls-Royce has limited production to a mere 25 units, and all of these have already been allocated to their fortunate owners. While the automaker has not disclosed the price tag for this exceptional creation, it is expected to command a premium well above the starting price of the Ghost, which begins at US$351,000.
