ChatGPT Officially Enables Web Browsing To Give Paid Users Up-To-Date Answers

OpenAI has expanded ChatGPT’s capabilities by finally bringing the web to the chatbot to enhance its functionality and user experience.

First, ChatGPT can now access the internet in real-time through a Browsing feature. Web browsing was introduced due to ChatGPT’s previous limitation, which only offered data up to September 2021. In March, OpenAI brought internet services to ChatGPT, followed by the introduction of web search via Bing in May. 

Initially available to ChatGPT Plus and Enterprise subscribers in beta, this feature enables users to access current information with direct links to sources. However, it was temporarily removed due to misuse. 

In late September, OpenAI reintroduced the beta ‘Browse with Bing’ feature, ensuring ChatGPT respects content owners’ instructions.

This Browsing feature has now moved out of beta, eliminating the need to toggle settings. ChatGPT utilizes Microsoft’s Bing web browser for internet access, and as such, subscribers can easily select Browse with Bing from the GPT-4 model selector.

In addition to web browsing, OpenAI integrated DALL-E 3 into ChatGPT, simplifying image generation based on text prompts. Users can now request images seamlessly. DALL-E 3 is available on both web and mobile platforms by selecting ‘DALL-E 3 (Beta)’ from the GPT-4 tab inside ChatGPT.

OpenAI has also expanded ChatGPT to include audio and visual capabilities, allowing users to have verbal conversations and search using images. It can create and narrate bedtime stories, blending voice assistant features with language models.

ChatGPT is evolving to incorporate broader capabilities, including audio and visual elements, as it ventures into an expanded realm of content generation.
