LEGO & Lucasfilm Creep Onto Funny Bones With Silly ‘Star Wars’ Halloween Shorts

The dark side has taken over a galaxy not so far, far away, as the LEGO Group and Lucasfilm treat fans to a trio of spooktacular Halloween shorts. These brick-filled tales, crawling after the release of delightful horror posters by the toymaker, are bound to send chills down the spines and laughter through the stars among Jedi Masters and younglings alike.

In the first animation, entitled The Sith Witch of Mustafar, even Darth Vader can’t escape the fright of an old legend. Against the eerie backdrop of the dark forest surrounding his castle, he and the Emperor get into a snappy disagreement about whether the Sith Witch is real or a myth.

The humorous film draws some spooky pop-culture references, most specifically from Blair Witch.

“I’ve jokingly referred to this as ‘The Sith Witch Project’, and you can see the Blair Witch influence, particularly in the Emperor’s terrorized ‘found footage’ moment with his holo-projector,” recounts David Shayne, the writer behind The Sith Witch of Mustafar.

“After all the times Vader and the Emperor have frightened us, for once we wanted to see the tables turned on THEM!”

Mech My Day follows a fed-up stormtrooper who takes matters into his own hands to confront his Sith boss with a homemade, Gundam-style mech suit.

And in Mandoween, Grogu, or Baby Yoda, converts Peli Motto’s garage into a haunted house in an attempt to scare the Mandalorian.

These thrilling shorts are the latest addition to the LEGO Star Wars universe, following the hoot that is 2021’s LEGO Star Wars Terrifying Tales, available to stream on Disney+. 

Lucasfilm’s Josh Rimes, VP of animation development and production, expresses his excitement about the new release, stating, “For the past couple of years, LEGO Star Wars, with its sense of anarchic humor, has been a perfect pairing for seasonal holiday fun. Celebrating the creepy vibes of Halloween within a galaxy far, far away is a challenge, but it’s something that LEGO Star Wars is uniquely positioned to do, and we hope fans of all ages discover and share these brand-new, bite-sized terrifying tales!”
