Recently, creative agency McCann London unveiled the latest phase of its See My Pain initiative in collaboration with Nurofen, a pain medication brands from the UK.
Recognizing the need for better resources to facilitate conversations between women and healthcare professionals, the new installment of the initiative introduces the Pain Pass—a free PDF that aims to empower individuals in expressing their pain and symptoms effectively.
The digital tool, which hopes to squash unconscious bias that women face in the medical industry, guides patients on how to navigate bias in healthcare interactions.
It revolves around a simple acronym, PASS, which stands for Pause the conversation, Ask questions for clarity, Speak up, and Seek another opinion. By following these steps, women can proactively manage their pain-related conversations with doctors and nurses.
Available for download here, the Pain Pass was created in collaboration with both industry workers and real women.
It includes a pain scale that helps individuals and doctors understand the severity of pain, pain vocabulary to assist in accurately expressing pain experiences, a pain tracking calendar, and tips to boost confidence and self-advocacy during healthcare interactions.
In addition, Nurofen published its second Gender Pain Gap Index Report, steered by IPG agency Golin, showing the current state of the Gender Pain Gap in the UK. Head here to take a look.
