IKEA Recreates Balenciaga’s Viral $925 Towel Skirt For A Fraction Of The Price
Recently, Balenciaga debuted its latest viral product: a towel skirt. Yup, as part of its Spring 24 Collection, the luxury label is offering a terry cotton garment that looks as though it could be hanging on a bathroom rack.
Now, in a tongue-in-cheek post, IKEA has pitted itself against the brand by allowing customers to dress its VINARN bath staple in the same way—with the model striking the exact same pose as the original.
Interestingly, as Complex pointed out, while the furniture retailer’s Instagram advertisement prices its dupe at £16 (US$17), the towel itself is available for just US$9.99 on IKEA’s US website.
No matter if one marvels at Balenciaga’s quirky releases—including all-metallic handbags and sneakers dressed top-to-toe in denim—or finds them irksome, most will agree that achieving the same look for US$900 less is smart math.
