To honor the hard work and dedication of postal workers—or “posties”—during the bustling holiday season, the UK Royal Mail recently unveiled a brand-new commercial.
Developed by AMV BBDO, the campaign titled In Good Hands coincides with a time of year when the brand experiences a significant surge in mail volume. In fact, during Christmastime, the service deals with double the usual amount of parcels and stamped letters sent.
Through acaptivating video and a specially commissioned poem by TS Eliot prize-winning poet Roger Robinson, this spot showcases the invaluable role of these workers and how their “good hands” add to the interactions with customers.
In the advertisement, the focus on hands symbolizes not only the physical labor involved in delivering mail but also the warmth and humanity that posties extend to their customers.
With actor Soppe Dirisu lending his voice, viewers are taken on a journey throughout the year, highlighting the changing seasons and conditions. The poetic narration, penned by Roger Robinson, adds depth and emotion to the visual narrative.
Directed byTom Green from Stink Films, the spot will be showcased through 30- and 60-second versions of the video across various digital platforms, social media channels, and video-on-demand platforms.
Sonia Sudhakar, marketing and digital managing director at the Royal Mail, told Marketing Beat the organization plays “an important role” during the holidays and wants to place the spotlight on the 85,000 employees who deliver mail “rain or shine.”
