Apple Announces Most Popular Books Of The Year To Close The Chapter Of 2023

Apple Books is celebrating the year in reading and has unveiled its top books and audiobooks of 2023, offering readers a glimpse into the literary highlights of the past 12 months.

On the same page, the tech giant has rolled out its Year in Review feature for books, a new in-app experience that lets readers celebrate their reading achievements and preferences from the past year. Here, users can take a personalized trip down memory lane, discovering fascinating insights about their reading habits in 2023. This includes the total time spent reading, the longest book or audiobook tackled, completed series, most-read author and genre, highest-rated book, and even a unique reader personality type. These insights are presented in a visually engaging format that’s perfect for sharing.

Apple Books has introduced six distinct reader personality types through this experience. These comprise ‘The Contemporary’ for fans of trendy titles, ‘The Completist’ for those who can’t resist finishing book series, ‘The Seeker’ for nonfiction enthusiasts, ‘The Wanderer’ for multigenre readers, ‘The Deep Diver’ for those who stick to a single genre, and ‘The Free Spirit’ for readers with eclectic tastes spanning the literary world.

To access their Year in Review, users need at least three finished titles in their reading list. The feature can be found on iPhone and iPad within the Read Now tab under Top Picks, and is available to Apple Books users for free in Australia, Canada, France, Germany, the UK, and the US. It’s a fun way for Apple Books users to reflect on their literary journey of the past year.

As a fitting conclusion to an exceptional literary year, Apple Books has also released its Best of 2023 list, recognizing standout books and audiobooks across various genres, including the most popular titles of the year. Notably, two celebrity memoirs bookended 2023 as chart-toppers: Prince Harry’s Spare in January and Britney Spears’ The Woman in Me, narrated by actor Michelle Williams, in October. Rebecca Yarros’ Fourth Wing captured the hearts of romance and fantasy enthusiasts during the spring and summer.
