LEGO x Polaroid Click With Instant Camera Model That ‘Develops’ Pictures

LEGO and Polaroid are creating a picture-perfect nostalgia trip for both camera buffs and brick enthusiasts with the LEGO Ideas Polaroid OneStep SX-70 Camera, a playful and intricate set that captures the beloved instant camera which revolutionized personal photography in the 1970s.

Say cheese to the working viewfinder, articulating exposure dial, and the legendary Color Spectrum, as the brick-built counterpart mirrors many signature features of the classic camera.

A notable addition is the inclusion of a buildable Polaroid Time-Zero Land Film pack. Plus, three LEGO Polaroid illustrated “photos”—including one of Polaroid inventor Edwin H. Land—add an extra layer of realism and fun.

This 516-piece model, based on a fan’s proposal, has an interactive design that allows adult builders to engage with it uniquely. You can select a LEGO Polaroid “photo,” load it into the camera, and then simulate a photo being ejected by pressing the red shutter button. This feature, alongside an opening film door for loading the LEGO photos, develops the kit beyond something that’s just for display.

Standing over 3.5 inches high, 3.5 inches wide, and six inches deep, the imaginative model was originally conceptualized by Marc from YouTube channel Minibrick Productions, whose idea thoroughly impressed fans and convinced LEGO to transform it into an official product.

Marc shares that his inspiration for the OneStep came from his admiration of its iconic design, noting that he began crafting the concept during a vacation in France, and that it took him a month to dream it up.

In the accompanying campaign, LEGO amusingly leans into the toy’s lack of actual photographic capabilities by reminding builders that the footage is “not shot on LEGO Polaroid camera” and that “no matter how many times you press the shutter button or how much you adjust the exposure dial, it will never capture those iconic moments.”
