Here’s a new smartphone to watch—or rather, a watch to smartphone. Rolex, the Swiss luxury watchmaker, has joined hands (heh) with Realme to launch a special-edition Realme 12 Pro series, marking its entry into smartphone design.
The Realme 12 Pro+ Rolex Edition is poised to feature an exquisite aesthetic adorned with blue leather and gold accents, a nod to Rolex watches and their precision. It’s conceptualized by Ollivier Saveo, a designer renowned for his dedication to traditional Swiss watchmaking. Saveo’s history with Rolex brings a genuine touch of luxury to the special edition, with elements that pay homage to classic timepieces.
The model’s circular camera island and a centered strip pattern are particularly influenced by the brand’s design ethos, aiming to infuse a touch of elegance and sophistication into the smartphone.
As for the technical specifics, while complete details remain under wraps, the Realme 12 Pro+ is rumored to be equipped with a 6.7-inch FHD+ OLED display, offering a 120Hz refresh rate and powered by a Snapdragon 7s Gen 2 octa-core chipset.
The Android phone is said to be blessed with a triple camera setup comprising a 4 MP main sensor, a 50 MP ultra-wide-angle lens, and an 8 MP telephoto camera. The camera module will potentially offer up to 120x zoom, too.
Realme has teased a potential launch date of January 28, hinted at through an intriguing image of a Rolex Oyster Perpetual Datejust displaying the date “28.”
While the Realme 12 Pro+ will be a mid-range offering, Rolex’s touch will certainly have some collectors reaching for seconds.
