Google is feeling G for great as its artificial intelligence assistant Bard has undergone a transformation, emerging under the name of Gemini. Initially launched to rival OpenAI’s ChatGPT, Gemini represents a consolidation of Google’s AI models under a unified brand. It comes with the debut of a dedicated Gemini Android app, now available for download. Meanwhile, iPhone users can access the platform through the existing Google iOS app.

In addition to a new christening, the tech giant snuck in a subtle, blink-and-you’ll-miss-it update to the classic ‘G’ logo in the Gemini announcement video, as noted by Android Police.

The emblem blends Google’s primary colors into a gradient, reflecting the sleek direction of its forward-looking offerings.

It’s unclear if this shiny symbol is here to stay or if it was just made for the teaser, however.

Elsewhere, the Gemini app on Android replaces Google Assistant with the new chatbot for voice commands and other interactions, which may take some getting used to.

And for those looking for advanced AI features, Google has introduced Gemini Ultra 1.0, accessible through a US$19.99 monthly subscription via Google One. The premium option “not only allows you to have longer, more detailed conversations; it also better understands the context from your previous prompts,” says the company.
