Mercedes-Benz Unleashes ‘Stronger Than Diamonds,’ Gem-Studded G-Wagon

Mercedes-Benz is offering a love language spoken in diamonds and roaring engines. It’s rolled out the aptly named ‘Stronger Than Diamonds Edition’ G-Class, an ultra-exclusive variant that blends the iconic SUV’s rugged personality with a touch of opulence.
Most prominently taking the extravagance to the road is the special Rosewood Gray Magno exterior paint, a metallic hue created specifically for this classy edition by the automaker’s Manufaktur bespoke customization division. Opposites attract, as they say, and this delicate colorway interestingly complements the boxy G-Class silhouette with its rose gold shimmer.

Subtle hints of luxury are scattered throughout. Open the door, and the posh continues inside. All five seats are swathed in black Nappa leather with contrasting Rosé stitching, but the true showstopper lies in the door lock pins. Each of the four stainless-steel pins is set with a 0.25-carat diamond, adding a touch of glamor with every entrance.

Other rare details include the ‘Stronger Than Diamonds’ branding on the grab handles and door sills, and a matching diamond emblem on the key fob.

Performance isn’t sacrificed for preciousness, though. The Stronger Than Diamonds Edition is based on the G550 model, packing a twin-turbocharged 4.0-liter V8 engine under the hood. This powerhouse delivers 416 horsepower and 450 lb-ft of torque, propelling the SUV from zero to 60 mph in just 5.6 seconds. Despite the luxurious interior, the G-Class remains a capable off-roader, reaching a top speed of 130 mph.

With only 300 units planned for production worldwide, the Stronger Than Diamonds Edition is a true gem in the luxury SUV landscape. While the exact price tag remains under wraps, expect it to significantly surpass the base G550’s starting price of US$144,150.
Mercedes describes this limited edition, announced for Valentine’s Day, as “a very special symbol of love,” making it a far more extravagant gift than a bouquet of roses for the auto enthusiast in your life. Each car will also come with an ethically sourced diamond certificate and a custom indoor car cover, ensuring your diamond-studded G-Class stays sparkling for years to come.
