Shein first began its search for emerging designers in Europe with the debut of the Shein X Challenge, part of its incubator program. This year, it expanded its scope to the rest of the world, a decision that turned out to be highly rewarding for the online fast-fashion giant. With nearly 1,000 submissions from over 70 countries, the competition truly went global for the first time.
Taking home the top prize of €10,000 (US$10,800) was Eleonora Falcone, an Italian designer who wowed the judges and resonated with public voters with her collection titled ‘GLOWMANTIC’.
With geographical barriers knocked down, there was a strong showing of female designers this year, including nine finalists. The theme of the year was ‘Radiance’, and Falcone’s designs were praised for their ability to translate original concepts into commercially viable pieces that cater to current trends.
The contest also served as a launchpad for a diverse group of up-and-coming talents. Juliana Cavalcanti de Siqueira (Brazil) won the Creativity Award, Yuto Nomura (Japan) took home the Next Gen Award, and Fungai Sarah Muzoroza (UK) was awarded the Style Award. Each of these category winners received €5,000 (US$5,400), while all other shortlisted participants received €3,000 (US$3,250).

The more enduring reward, though, will see all 10 finalists, including Falcone, get their collections produced and sold on Shein’s massive platform, reaching over 150 million users worldwide. This, coupled with guidance and support offered by the Shein X Designer Incubator Program, will hopefully position these rising stars for long-term success in the industry.
“We are very excited for what Eleanora will bring to the Shein X Designer Incubator Program and to the fashion industry!” shares Molly Miao, chief marketing officer of Shein. “Her flair for design, technical skills and understanding of commercial viability already positions her as an excellent fashion designer. With Shein’s on-demand production model, global logistics experience and marketing expertise to support her, we expect great demand for the GLOWMANTIC collection when it goes live on Shein sites around the world.”
The judges echo this sentiment. One of them, Julien Fournié, commends the solid presence of female designers, along with Falcone’s ability to spin the competition’s ambitious theme into shoppable pieces.
“We knew we had a bright fashion star in our midst,” expresses Fournié. “Her drive to succeed was clearly evident, as was her ability to decipher the theme and translate it into what will certainly be a popular collection.”
