Louis Vuitton Crafts Trunks To Protect Paris 2024 Medals & Torches

Paris 2024 athletes will be sprinting their victory laps in style, with the precious medals and torches for the upcoming Olympic and Paralympic Games slated to travel in Louis Vuitton opulence.
The French fashion house has designed a pair of special trunks: one for the coveted athlete medals, and another to safeguard the Olympic and Paralympic torches. It continues a 35-year tradition of the Maison creating trophy trunks for some of the world’s biggest sports showdowns, and harks back to the days of Louis Vuitton himself, who, after years of perfecting his packing craft, founded his own label in 1854, dedicated to protecting precious cargo.
Louis Vuitton’s long-lived legacy of crafting exquisite travel essentials is reflected in its Medals Trunk, complete with its signature Monogram canvas exterior and classic brass corners and closures that have been a brand hallmark for over 150 years.

Far from being stuck in the past, though, the Medal Trunks incorporate a modern twist, drawing inspiration from the Malle Coiffeuse vanity case. This connection transforms the Medal Trunks into a sophisticated display case for the medals themselves, which were crafted by sister jeweler Chaumet. It conveys the idea of the prizes as personal adornments and culminations of participants’ journeys.

The Torches Trunks, meanwhile, are covered in the brand’s Damier canvas, another historic design element. Inside, the cases sport bespoke “sockets” to securely hold the torches, with a soft black leather lining for added protection. When unfolded, the trunks cleverly transform into presentation cases, showcasing the Paris 2024 logo with an elegant flourish.
