2-Year-Old Artist’s Paintings Are Being Purchased At $7K A Pop

It seems that in the realm of art, age is but a number. Just this week, the Guinness World Records cast the spotlight on the youngest male artist, Ace-Liam Nana Sam Ankrah from Ghana, who began painting at six months and earned his well-deserved title at only one year and 152 days old. The adage for age being merely a number once again holds true for Laurent Schwarz, a two-year-old prodigy from Germany, who is moving hearts with his abstract paintings—some of which have sold for as much as US$7,000.
Laurent’s baby steps into the art world began unexpectedly during a family vacation last fall when his parents noticed his keen interest in the resort’s activities room.

Back home, Lisa and Philipp Schwarz set up a studio for Laurent, and his talent blossomed. His abstract works, often featuring recognizable figures like elephants, dinosaurs, and horses, are marked by their vivid and dynamic use of color.
“Brown and other boring colors don’t interest him,” shares Lisa Schwarz, noting Laurent’s specific preferences and clear vision for his color palettes.

To share Laurent’s creations with the world, Lisa created an Instagram account, @laurents.art, which has quickly gained over 31,000 followers. His paintings have not only captured the attention of art enthusiasts online but have also been showcased at Munich’s largest art fair, ART MUC, and sold to collectors worldwide. A gallery in New York City is even in talks to exhibit his pieces.
Nearly all of his paintings have been sold, fetching prices up to US$7,000. The earnings are being saved in a bank account for Laurent to access when he turns 18. Lisa emphasizes that while she supports his passion, all artistic decisions are entirely Laurent’s own.
