McDonald’s & ‘Kiki’s Delivery Service’ Unite To Dish Out Bewitching Burgers

McDonald’s Japan is taking off with the beloved Kiki’s Delivery Service, to deliver, for the lack of a better word, a fresh trio of European-inspired burgers.

This magical, limited-edition menu, available in the nation from June 26 to the end of July 2024, features three unique sandwiches with square buns. The German Potato and Beef, for one, consists of a classic beef patty alongside a savory German potato filling and a tangy mustard sauce.

For those seeking a bit of heat, the Peperon Juicy Hot Chicken offers a fiery kick with a red pepper-infused chicken patty drizzled with garlic mayonnaise. Rounding out the selection is the Bouillabaisse-Style Shrimp, a seafood option featuring a breaded shrimp patty bathed in a rich bouillabaisse sauce and complemented by a dollop of aioli.

Made popular by the 1989 Studio Ghibli film, Kiki’s Delivery Service actually originated as a book by Eiko Kadono. It is the literary interpretation of Kiki that we see here in the campaign, according to Otaku USA.

The fast-food chain has paired the selection with a series of fun animations spotlighting Kiki and her black cat Jiji. Here, the iconic witch soars through the skies on her broomstick, this time to deliver a taste of Europe in the form of beef, chicken, and shrimp.

All told, Kiki’s McDelivery service is only eligible in Japan, though not all of it. The Bouillabaisse-Style Shrimp burger is curiously absent from the menus in Fukuoka and Saga prefectures.
