Tesla Recalls Cybertrucks Over Wonky Parts That Could Pose Road Hazards

Tesla’s Cybertruck has hit a minor roadblock with a recent double recall. The electric vehicle manufacturer has put out two separate recalls addressing issues with the windshield wipers and trunk bed trim on a significant portion of the trucks delivered since late 2023.

The first recall concerns the windshield wiper motor controller, which Tesla staff have found could cease functioning due to electrical overstress. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) reports that nearly 11,700 Cybertrucks are affected by this potential issue.

A malfunctioning wiper compromises visibility especially in poor weather conditions, potentially increasing the risk of a collision. To rectify this, the automaker will replace the wiper motor at no cost to owners.

The second recall targets the decorative trim piece on the truck’s bed. The part, installed with adhesive, may loosen or detach from the vehicle while driving, creating a road hazard for following motorists. The NHTSA filing indicates that roughly 11,400 Cybertrucks fall under this recall.

Tesla emphasizes that neither issue has resulted in any reported accidents thus far. The company says it will contact affected owners via mail in August, outlining the service procedures to rectify the problems. Fortunately, both repairs will be performed free of charge at Tesla service centers.

This announcement marks the fourth for the Cybertruck since its late-2023 launch, highlighting the importance of continuous testing and improvement in the production process.
