The Campbell Soup Company intends to simmer down its name, dropping the “Soup” to better represent its melting pot of offerings—spanning from soups to sauces and snacks—as consumer preferences continually evolve.
If all pans out, The Campbell Soup Company will be yesterday’s leftovers and simply be known as The Campbell’s Company, a big change in its 155-year history.
Mark Clouse, Campbell’s CEO, explains the decision as a natural evolution of the brand’s journey in recent years. While the rebrand is subtle, it will make more sense for the firm’s broader portfolio, which now includes Goldfish, Pepperidge Farm, and Snyder’s of Hanover, as well as sauces from Rao’s.
The change isn’t set in stone just yet. Shareholders will get to vote on it at the annual meeting in November. If they give it the green light, you’ll see the new name reflected even in the company’s web address, according to TODAY.
All told, Campbell’s isn’t forgetting its roots, as the soup business remains a key ingredient in its recipe for success.
