Pepsi is tracking your pizza order… by tailing delivery riders. In a lighthearted stunt called Pepsi Chase Cars, the beverage brand is reminding fans that pizza just tastes better when it’s chased with a Pepsi. A roundabout joke, indeed.
The campaign, created by advertising giant BBDO Worldwide, showcases humorous moments in which Pepsi Chase Cars dramatically pull up alongside pizza delivery vehicles, before enthusiastic representatives of the soda leap out to hand customers complimentary cans of the fizzy drink, just as their pies arrive.
“We love pizza and Pepsi together so much that we unleashed a fleet of ridiculously overpowered Pepsi Chase Cars to make sure that no pizza is eaten without a Pepsi chaser,” shares Jenny Danzi, head of brand marketing at Pepsi.
To sweeten the deal, the company is offering tens of thousands of free ’zas to customers who purchase a Pepsi product and meet the minimum order amounts at participating pizza chains. As nearly 43% of pizza orders roll in on Friday nights, Pepsi is making sure no slice goes unsipped.
Starting on Friday, September 13, pizza lovers can score a free pie when they order Pepsi alongside their meal from major chains like Little Caesars (minimum order of $30), Papa Johns (minimum order of $40), Pizza Hut (minimum order of $40), or Marco’s Pizza (minimum order of $45) via DoorDash. All you need is a qualifying purchase of a two-liter or 20 oz bottle of Pepsi, Pepsi Zero Sugar, Diet Pepsi, or Pepsi Wild Cherry to claim your free pizza.
“When you’reeating pizza, you deserve to enjoy it to its full potential, and that’s why we're offering tens of thousands of free pizzas to prove that Pepsi, with its citrusy sweetness and carbonation, perfectly complements the deliciousness that is pizza,” says Danzi. “If your bites aren’t chased by sips of Pepsi, you’re leaving taste on the table.”
