Pharrell Williams is redefining beauty sleep with Louis Vuitton. The luxury fashion house’s men’s creative director has teamed up with artistic director Nicolas Ghesquière to reimagine one of the brand’s most historical pieces, the Malle Lit, a trunk that moonlights as a bed.
Originally designed in the 19th century for aristocrats and explorers, this portable, heritage sleeping solution has now been given a fresh twist with modern touches by both Williams and Ghesquière.
Pharrell’s version, the Malle Lit Pharrell Williams (€160,000 / US$178,000), features an exterior wrapped in distressed stripes, reminiscent of a vintage 1872 Louis Vuitton canvas, while the interior bursts with vibrant red and white stripes.

To add a personal touch, a jacquard mattress and pillow are embroidered with ‘LV Lovers’.

Ghesquière’s influence is also evident across the Malle Lit Nicolas Ghesquière (€220,000 / US$244,000), particularly in the more futuristic elements. His engraved metal plates and sleek modern corner pieces bring a contemporary feel to the otherwise nostalgic trunk.

Inside, a floral-patterned mattress—borrowed from his previous collections—adds a whimsical, romantic vibe. The whole piece folds out into a beechwood and aluminum frame, turning what looks like an unassuming trunk into a fully functional bed.

Though rich in history, this luxurious bed trunk isn’t stuck in the past. It offers modern comfort with a four-part, memory foam-topped mattress, doubling as an extra bed or even as a chic meridian in a living room.
