Feeling like a stapler trapped in Jell-O? Not to fear, you can soon escape to a second life with The Office World, an immersive social experience brought to you by Meta and NBCUniversal that transports The Office fans into the heart of the beloved cringe workplace sitcom via Meta Horizon, beginning October 10.

According to the social network, Dunder Mifflin’s Scranton branch is “seeking temp workers” for its sales department. Would-be employees can claim their own desk in the familiar office, engaging with mini-games and trivia that bring the show’s most memorable moments to life, dodging bats so as to avoid getting rabies and salvaging Kevin’s infamous chili. Set in virtual reality, this experience lets you bring work back home in the best way possible.

Developed by a team including Magnopus, ARVORE, Albyon, and Monks, The Office World was custom-designed for VR, plunging fans right into a photocopy of the office run by Michael Scott.

The virtual economy runs on ‘Schrute Bucks’, a nod to Dwight Schrute’s economic vision, allowing users to customize their desk space and purchase items from an interactive vending machine.

Fans of The Office will find themselves surrounded by references to their favorite characters and episodes. The Office World is designed to be a dynamic, evolving space with new challenges and rewards rolling out regularly, offering fresh and engaging experiences with each visit.

And the fun doesn’t stop at Dunder Mifflin—you can also catch full-length The Office episodes on the Peacock app within Meta Quest or explore other NBCUniversal experiences like Universal Monsters Arena and Halloween Horror Nights.

“The Office World gives fans a completely new way to experience the series through the interactive possibilities of virtual reality,” expresses Sarah Malkin, director of metaverse entertainment at Meta. “Our partnership with NBCUniversal allows us to expand the show’s universe beyond the screen, letting fans dive into The Office’s world in immersive, social experiences and games. It’s not just about watching anymore—it’s about stepping inside and being part of the action in a way that only VR can deliver.
